What to Do

Well there is a delay on the cabinets of our new house. So now we are sitting and waiting..... Mostly I appriciate the extra time to get the current house ready. There is still a bit more painting to be done and lots of little things in each of the rooms. What do you notice most when you go into someone's house?

Hi Jen,

I think you notice most a general feeling: is the house very light(windows, colors, ...), does it feel warm and comfy, is it very (too) full with furniture and ornaments, is it modern or traditional? That is what you first notice.

Only afterwards you'll notice that there is a cute little scuplture on the window or a the nice flowers on the corner table.

Hmmm...I guess that depends on the house. We know one family who has 2 cats. Unfortunately, the smell of those 2 cats nearly knocks you on your ass when you come in the door. It's hard to notice anything else when you're trying to hold you breath but try to be polite at the same time.

I don't tend to be a very observant person so I guess I just notice a simple snapshot of the people's lives when I enter someone's house. If I'm visiting for more than a few minutes though, then you tend to notice smaller things like mail piled on the kitchen table (I'm totally guilty of that!), toys scattered throughout (guilty again!), or nicer things like cute pictures on the fridge, a bowl of fruit on the kitchen counter or a nice screensaver on the computer in the den.
